Which organs can be donated?

Living Donor

She/he can donate one kidney, one lung, part of the liver, islets of pancreas, bone marrow.

Deceased Donor

  1. Brain dead donors can donate the following organs: Kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, and parts of small intestines and the following tissues: Corneas, cardiac valves, arteries, veins, bones, tendons, skin.
  2. After cardiac arrest: The donor can donate tissues: Corneas, cardiac valves, arteries, veins, bones, tendons, skin… and some organs: Kidneys and liver only where an organ donation system after cardiac arrest is established.
    For the time being, in Lebanon, only hearts, livers and kidneys are transplanted from brain dead donors.
