How is a patient registered on the national waiting list?

When a patient’s physician determines that an organ transplant may be necessary, the patient is referred to a transplant center for an evaluation. If the patient successfully completes the evaluation process, the transplant surgeon and the treating physician will send the patient to register his/her file on the national waiting list at NOD-Lb. It is not allowed to register simultaneously in several transplant centers.

Should we pay to be transplanted?

Organ transplantations are covered by the third party payer of the recipients.

Do transplanted patients need special care?

After transplantation, patients must take immunosuppressive medications for the rest of their lives to prevent organ rejection. These drugs are associated with potential complications that require a proper attention and an education of the future recipient candidates.
